ADD & ADHD (Neurological Challenges)
Is ADD preventable? What can a parent do if their child has ADD? Is a lack of sleep related to ADD? What is GFI's position on ADD? How can a class leader encourage class members dealing with ADD? Gary Ezzo is joined by pediatric neurologist Dr. Rusty Turner for this discussion. Together, they discuss the diagnosis of ADD and how much is nature vs. nurture. Using the analogy of a house, they share the importance of having right foundational principles in place. This presentation will help parents of a child diagnosed with ADD and GFI class leaders/CFH Contact Moms who work with these parents.
A Look at Effective Prayer, a Three-Part Series
Anne Marie Ezzo and Sharon Carter lead a discussion on the vital importance of prayer to an effective spiritual life. This three-part series, addressing personal and intercessory prayer, gently yet firmly exhorts women in the Kingdom of God to utilize the powerful weapon of prayer. This teaching gives practical encouragement and reminders about the Biblical command to pray.
Boundaries, Choices & First-Time Obedience
This presentation by Anne Marie Ezzo looks at God’s standard of submission, boundaries, choices, and obedience. She shares what these look like at different ages of children, which is very helpful information for Moms. Anne Marie also reminds Moms to focus on getting these areas under control in their own lives, which is a must before they can establish them in the lives of their children.
Character Training
Training children in character comes through training their hearts. Sheryl Nickels, a Mom with a wide age-span of both biological and adopted children is the speaker for this presentation. Sheryl reminds all Moms that they set the tone in their homes and are called to apply Biblical principles in their own lives and in the lives of their children. She also shares ways that Moms can instill Godly truths in their children.
Complacency, Conviction, Commitment, Courage
Anne Marie Ezzo looks at what Scripture says about these four topics. Defining terms and the study of numerous Scripture references provides a thorough understanding. Anne Marie challenges women to think about what their convictions are, and what their convictions are based on. She shares how women can encourage others and provoke them to love and good works. This presentation is a thought-provoking look at one’s commitment to Christ, His Word, and the application of truth.
Dispelling the ‘SuperMom’ Myth
What is a ‘SuperMom’? Ask a group of women and you will get completely different answers. Why? Because every Mom will define ‘SuperMom’ based on what she sees other Moms do that make her envious of them. Comparing oneself with other Moms robs women of the opportunity to celebrate the unique and gifted way God created every woman to be. This presentation encourages Moms to give priority to loving God, their husbands, their children, and then minister to those God brings into their lives.
Expectations vs. Reality
In this presentation Anne Marie Ezzo and Sharon Carter discuss the way Moms often want things to be (expectations) and the way that they actually are (reality), and how to deal with the tension that is present when one does not match the other. Everyone expects certain things of each relationship in their life. When these expectations are not met frustration grows, and this inhibits growth in one’s spiritual walk. Anne Marie and Sharon challenge listeners to assess and evaluate the expectations they have and share how to bring them into perspective.
First-Time Obedience
In the first part of this presentation, Anne Marie Ezzo shares thoughts on obedience that are both practical and encouraging. In the second part of the presentation, Gary Ezzo discusses the question of whether or not your child is too young to obey. The things Gary and Anne Marie share are thought provoking and helpful.
Getting Back to the Basics
Anne Marie Ezzo and a panel of experienced Contact Moms help Moms get back to the basics by examining foundational principles such as seeking God first, honoring and respecting your husband, family time, structure and routine, and getting to your child's heart.
Getting Rid of Clutter
This presentation discusses 3 areas of our lives that need to be kept in tip-top shape; Clutter in our homes, clutter in our parenting and clutter in our hearts. Each area is addressed to help us increase our focus and clarity, provide constructive and practical tips but mostly provides encouragement.
Heart-Training
Moms want to know what the Bible says it means to ‘train’ the heart. What role does heart-training have in parenting? What is a Mom’s role in changing the heart of her child and how does she do that? Using the analogy of a garden, Anne Marie Ezzo and Sharon Carter discuss what can be done in training the heart of a child. Practical teaching is given in how to deal with the heart that is not teachable and how this training is applied in sibling relationships.
Homeschooling: Maintaining Your Sanity
Sharon Carter is a homeschooling Mom of 7 children, ages 18 to 18 months at the time of this presentation She shares thoughts and practical tips on preschool, homeschool basics, selecting curriculum, organizing your day, scheduling, accountability, learning attitudes, and how to manage younger children and school-age children and still keep other priorities balanced. While CFH does not believe homeschooling is for every family, this discussion is great for Moms thinking about homeschooling their children.
Honoring & Reverencing Your Husband
Anne Marie Ezzo presents the Scriptural basis that encourages women to show reverence to their husbands. Sharon Carter gives practical ‘how-to's’ to enhance the marriage relationship. This discussion gives special attention and help to those who find themselves in a position where respecting their husband may be difficult to do.
How Our Words Can Defile Us
Join Anne Marie Ezzo and Sharon Carter as they share with Moms the Biblical importance of learning to use words wisely and the impact words will have in their home and in the lives of others. Practical application is provided so that every Mom can understand how the words that come from her heart will edify others and how these words can be seasoned with grace.
Little Men and Little Women
If a family has all girls, it is assumed there are certain things that the parents do not have to teach their daughters. Likewise, if a family has all boys, it is assumed there are things the parents can not focus their training on because ‘boys will be boys’. Is it possible some Biblical standards and teaching are only for boys or only for girls Sharon Secor (mother of boys) and Marguerite Tyson (mother of girls) compare and contrast the differences and similarities of boys and girls. Areas that are discussed include the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of boys and girls.
Mealtime Behavior
During meals everyone thinks of getting their tummies full. Gary Ezzo shares that focusing on the "preciousness of others" is not impossible during mealtime. Moms can learn how to make this happen in their home and when their family is eating in public. It is possible!
Our Identity in Christ
In this presentation by Anita Couch, women learn about their significance in Christ, and the importance of trusting the sufficiency of Jesus Christ’s perfect work on the cross. Anita helps women look into the mirror of truth to find the joyful freedom that comes from knowing who they are in Christ. She shares personal experiences and Scriptural truths to remind women that they are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ.
Parenting without Fear
Fear can paralyze a relationship between a parent and child and stop it from growing or moving forward. Anne Marie Ezzo and Sharon Carter share how God gives everyone a spirit of power, love, and sound mind which helps Moms combat fears they may have regarding their parenting.
Proverbs 31 Woman
Is becoming a Proverbs 31 woman an attainable goal? Sharon Carter encourages Moms to faithfully pursue the pattern of the excellent wife. As she discusses the principles from this well-known chapter, she challenges Christian Moms to use the example of this woman as a checklist of Godly attributes.
Redeem the Time – Helping Moms Prioritize
How someone invests their time shows what their priorities are. Anita Couch helps women determine what should be in their schedules, based on what their priorities are.
Sharing the Good News
Anne Marie Ezzo and Susan St. Clair share ideas and ways to present the GOOD NEWS (the Salvation message) to those God brings across their path. There are numerous ways to present this one important and life-changing message. Find out what needs to be said to present the Gospel and lead someone to the point of decision for Christ. Every Christian needs to be competent to share the 'reason for the hope that lies within us'.
Sibling Relationships
This presentation is a panel discussion with four Moms with children ranging from 2 years - teens. They give practical tips from their own experience on establishing good relationships between siblings and field questions from the other Moms present.
Structure & Routine
When there is no structure and routine in a family’s life, children behave in unpredictable ways. They do not share, they have unacceptable behavior issues, and they are characterized by a lack of security. Children learn self-discipline when they stick to a consistent routine in their home. How structure and routine work hand-in-hand with the ‘funnel’ and freedoms is discussed. This presentation is a good reminder of ‘why’ it is important to do things well.
Time Management
Sharon Carter, a mother of seven children discusses how important time management is throughout the day. Sharon shares with Moms the overall importance of managing time in a family’s life including home organization and homeschooling.
Transitions
Anne Marie Ezzo heads a forum of seasoned Moms on how to gracefully handle transitions in the lives of both parents and children. The three key transitions of parenting; from infant to toddler, middle years to teen years, and teen years to adulthood are highlighted. Moms will gain wisdom for these critical periods in the life of their children including the challenge to keep focused on heart-training during these times of difficulty. Come learn from the experience of other Moms what to expect in times of transition.
What Is Biblical Modesty?
Anne Marie Ezzo and Sharon Carter discuss the heart issues of Biblical modesty, offering practical wisdom and thought-provoking scenarios on the day-by-day process of training families towards pure thoughts while living in a calloused world. Moms will be challenged to consider the high calling of holiness as it pertains to God’s standard of modesty.
What the Bible Has To Say About Working Women
In this presentation, Gary Ezzo shares from a Biblical standpoint that it is ideal for Moms to be at home with their children. Moms are to be the keepers of their home, working or not. Gary shares the reasons why this is and the criteria that is necessary for that to happen.
Wisdom vs. Foolishness
Anne Marie Ezzo and Sharon Carter discuss aspects of a wise woman vs. a foolish woman. Wisdom from the world is completely different from the wisdom of God. How can women be characterized by God’s wisdom? Sharon Carter emphasizes the effect a woman’s behavior has on her family. She goes on to share that Godly women should become characterized by markedly different behavior than that of a non-believer. This message covers numerous scripture passages that are direct guidelines from God to women.
